Episode 345: Midsommar

Hello everyone, welcome to our week in geek!

The week blew by us so fast that we missed the blue blur as it stole a bit of the box office. Instead we bring you our streaming review of Midsommar and a heaping helping of some nerd news before we answer this week’s pod question of “what is you favorite game controller?”

This we watched Bat’s streaming suggestion of Midsommar on Amazon Prime. While we were not a fan of Aster’s of directorial piece, Hereditary, we heard so many “good” things about Midsommar that we had to give this one a shot. Lets start off with the first 15 minutes of this movie, which is strong. So strong that both Bat and I were booked and ready. But then the movie continues on, for quite a while, and at a slow but deliberate pace. While there definitely was some off putting moments (like the jumping and the sex) over all we found the movie to be a bit too, well bloated and just couldn’t keep our attention. This isn’t a bad movie, but it also isn’t a great one. It’s here that perhaps the hype just got us a bit too high with excitement because both of us came out of the movie and just felt a little blah. We can’t recommend the investment that this movie takes for it’s “payoff” and recommend you give this one a solid pass.

Next week’ streaming suggestion is my choice. We’re going to watch Fighting With My Family on Amazon Prime.

You can suggest a streaming movie that you want us to watch and review on future episodes that are on Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ or HBOgo.
